Genesis 1 & 2
1. Why does Abraham name a servant as heir? Why not his nephew Lot who he obviously cares dearly for? What does this tell us about Abraham? 2. What is up with cutting the animals in half and the firepot/torch walking the middle? Why is Abraham commended for his faith? 3. Why does Sarai blame Abraham for the way that Hagar is treating her once Hagar is pregnant? As a woman, what does this reinforce for her in her thinking about herself? What is God’s response to the situation? 4. Why does God repeat again that he wants to establish a covenant with Abraham? Didn’t they already do that? Why does God wait so long to give Sarah a child? Abraham is praised because he believes God can do the impossible. What is the “impossible” in your life that you need or want God to intercede? Genesis 18, 19, 20
